The Constant Velocity Tube Set provides students with a unique and engaging way to explore and graph motion at constant velocity. The set includes five transparent plastic tube filled with oils of different viscosities. A bubble of air in each tube rises at a constant velocity that is determined by the viscosity of the liquid, the angle at which the tube is inclined, and the temperature.
One of the tubes contains a plastic and steel ball, giving the students the added twist of having an object with a negative velocity and thus a negative slope on the graph. Students can predict where the ball and the bubble will meet. This oil in this tube has the same viscosity as the oil in the red tube.
